Yanagi Festival fireworks, Toyooka — a record of 2024
Toyooka’s summer, remembered in fireworks.
Fireworks open above the Maruyama River, with light reflected below. This is a record of Toyooka’s Yanagi Festival in 2024; no 2027 dates have been verified.
Compare the bursts overhead with their reflections for a glimpse of summer in Japan’s bag-making city. Discovering the festival’s links to willow work and bag making adds another layer to the scene.
The city-centre festival area on Daikai-dori is near JR Toyooka Station. The national tourism listing gives about 20 minutes on foot for the festival area including the Maruyama riverbank; this is not a route to the camera position. For a future edition, check its announced viewing areas, traffic controls and return trains.
