Hammer a Copper Tumbler in Tsubame
See the metalworking city’s history, then give copper a texture of your own.

What you will do
Tap a preformed copper tumbler with a hammer to create a patterned surface, then take it home. This regular activity takes about 30 minutes and is separate from the longer vessel-shaping course.

About 5 minutes by taxi from Tsubame-Sanjo Station. The shortest walk is about 2.4 km/33 minutes; check winter conditions and the return journey.

Before you choose a date
Closures: Closed Mondays, or the next weekday when Monday is a public holiday; annual New Year closure 29 December–3 January. On 8 November 2026, workshop reception stops 11:00–13:00 for a group booking. Additional 2026–27 closures are unverified.
Language: Free museum audio guides in Japanese, English and Chinese. This does not guarantee interpreting during the activity; ask ahead about workshop language support.
- Group guidance requires a guardian for children in grade 4 or younger. Confirm minimum ages for individual participation and wheelchair-compatible work arrangements.
- Groups are asked to report cancellation or changes to numbers/times at least 7 days ahead. Any cancellation fee is unverified.
- The individual workshop price is ¥2,700, rather than the ¥2,500 still shown on the group-information page.
- Same-day availability is unconfirmed. No workshop or official photographs have been copied.
