Gujo Hachiman Hakurankan
Waterways, local crafts and summer nights of Gujo dancing come together here. A visit before exploring the castle town gives its streets more meaning, while scheduled demonstrations bring the dance steps close enough to study.
What to see
- Explore the town through exhibits on water, history and craftsmanship.
- See local craft traditions including Gujo textiles and dyeing, fishing rods and baskets.
- Learn about Gujo Odori’s history and songs, and watch an approximately 15-minute demonstration when scheduled.
Gujo-Hachiman Station, Nagaragawa Railway → your visit
- About a 25-minute walk from Gujo-Hachiman Station. Address: 50 Tono-machi, Hachiman-cho, Gujo, Gifu. Check the official access page for local and highway bus stops.
Closures & important conditions
The standing closure policy is December 24–January 2. No regular weekday closure or holiday-substitution rule is listed. No separate 2026–27 temporary-closure notice was confirmed; check the official information before a winter visit.
- The dated demonstration notice and the general page describe performance days differently. If the dance is your main reason to visit, confirm the date and time directly. Crowding or other circumstances may cause changes or cancellation.
- Indoor winter demonstrations are separate from the summer Gujo Odori dances held in town.
