Hida Furukawa Festival Exhibition Hall
Thunderous Okoshi Daiko drums meet exquisitely carved festival floats. Real objects, sound and film introduce the contrasting sides of Furukawa Festival, while puppetry and local hospitality traditions give an off-season town walk greater depth.
What to see
- Normally three genuine festival floats rotate through the hall; study their upper structures, carvings and decoration.
- See the dynamic and stately sides of the festival in the 4K theatre, with screenings listed every 20 minutes.
- Try manipulating karakuri puppets and striking an Okoshi Daiko drum, and learn about yobihiki hospitality.
Hida-Furukawa Station, JR Takayama Line → your visit
- About 5 minutes on foot. Address: 14-5 Ichinomachi, Furukawa-cho, Hida, Gifu. Drivers can use the city hall car park, about a minute away.
Closures & important conditions
The standing New Year closure is December 29–January 3. No weekly closure or public-holiday substitution is listed. Additional 2026–27 temporary closures were not confirmed. The neighboring Hida Crafts Museum closes Thursdays, so the combined ticket is not sold on Thursdays.
- The autumn 2026 float move was scheduled for November 3, with November 7 or 8 as rain-delay alternatives. Completion was not confirmed; call about the number on display and admission price for an early-November visit.
- Floats leave for rotations and the festival. Confirm any particular float, or the availability of all three, for your visit date.
- The indoor winter display is separate from the annual April 19–20 street festival. Allow time for snowy walking conditions from the station.
