Mount Hakusan from the Hakusan viewpoint on Iwayamatadani Nature Trail
Green forest frames snow-covered Hakusan from the Iwayamatadani viewpoint, recorded in May 2025.
Current visiting conditions
The 2026 Hakusan seasonal bus from Matto has ended. It is not presented as currently available.
The Hakusan viewpoint is roughly one hour return in snow-free conditions, not the separate three-hour Panorama viewpoint. Do not visit during snow or winter closures; this is not a beginner winter or summit itinerary.
Visitor-centre availability in the prefecture’s 23 October 2026 notice is not clearance for the road, trail or transport. Check current conditions.
Use Ichinose as the gateway, then the Iwayamatadani trail beside Hakusan Onsen to the Hakusan viewpoint: roughly one hour return in snow-free conditions, not the separate three-hour Panorama viewpoint. The seasonal bus connects Matto Station with Ichinose, but its 2026 season has ended. The visitor centre being listed usable on 23 October does not establish bus, road or trail availability. Do not visit during winter closures or snowy conditions; check road restrictions and trail conditions beforehand. This is not a beginner winter or summit-climbing itinerary.
