What you will do
Practise on a sample board, then use a metal stylus to mark your chopsticks. A craftsperson applies lacquer and gold powder. Take the work home that day, but keep it untouched for one week.
Time: From about 30 minutes; ask about waiting and finishing time that day.

Before you choose a date
Closures: Closed Thursdays, except public holidays. No substitute closure after a holiday Thursday is stated. The official page states daily opening December 31–January 6. Additional closures are unverified.
Language: The website offers English, Chinese and Korean. Workshop instruction in those languages is unverified.
- Do not touch the finished piece for one week: the gold needs to set and uncured lacquer can irritate skin. It is not ready for immediate use.
- Minimum age and guardian conditions are unverified. Ask about children’s participation because the activity uses a pointed tool.
- The grounds have paved routes and ramps, but also slopes and steps in historic buildings. Wheelchairs can be borrowed at the entrance; a multipurpose toilet is in the main shop. Check access to the workstation.
- Individuals walk in. Reserved groups have size- and date-dependent cancellation terms; for complete cancellation of an activity booking of up to 30, charges are 30% 2–3 days before, 50% the day before and 100% on the day, calculated on the pre-tax booking price.
- The venue provides taxi-company contact details but does not arrange a taxi for you. Plan the return journey in advance.
- An October 2026 notice says outdoor music is louder than usual as a preventive measure against unexpected bear encounters. Visitors sensitive to sound should check current conditions.
