What you will do
At the roadside station’s washi studio, form a plain sheet using nagashi-zuki, dye it and shape it into a cylindrical lantern. This course is designed to go home with you the same day.

Getting there
From Ogawamachi Station on the Tobu Tojo/JR Hachiko lines, take the Ogawa Park Hill bus to Michi-no-Eki Ogawamachi, then walk 1 minute, as named in the 2026 group guide. About 10 minutes by taxi or 40 minutes on foot from the station.

Before you choose a date
Closures: Only the washi studio closes Mondays; it opens on holiday Mondays. The current operator page states no next-day substitute closure. Studio operations over New Year 2026–27 are unverified. Year-round retail/dining opening does not mean daily workshops.
Language: Saitama’s official visitor information explicitly says no on-site English service; arrange an interpreter if needed.
- The studio welcomes children and adults, but the lantern course’s minimum age, guardian requirements and wheelchair workstation access are unverified. Discuss necessary support in advance.
- Basic papermaking-only pieces are sent later and cannot be mailed overseas. Lantern and fan courses are same-day take-home options, useful for short visits.
- Day-specific operation, queues and material stock have not been checked. Group cancellation charges are also unverified.

Plain-sheet making + dyeing + lantern: ¥3,850 including tax. A fan alternative costs ¥2,750. Prices differ from older listings for the former Saitama Traditional Craft Center.

Booking & current availability
