Weave a Silk Coaster at Tsumugi no Yakata in Yuki
Choose your yarn and build a small textile in the home of Yuki silk.

What you will do
Choose coloured yarn and weave a roughly 9 cm square coaster in Oribakan. The short session introduces the feel of floss-silk yarn and the work of turning it into cloth. The traditional body-tensioned jibata loom is a separate activity.
Time: From about 30 minutes for a coaster; duration varies with group size.

Getting there
Walk about 10 minutes from the north exit of Yuki Station on the JR Mito Line to Okujun’s premises on Omachi-dori. Free parking is available.

Before you choose a date
Closures: Closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and New Year. Exceptions or substitute closures when these fall on holidays, and exact New Year 2026–27 dates, are unverified. Weaving sessions pause 13–15 November 2026 for on-site events; this notice suspends the activity, not the whole venue.
Language: Foreign-language instruction is unverified; discuss it when booking.
- Regular dyeing activities are suspended with no announced restart. Their status differs from coaster weaving.
- Minimum age, guardian requirements, wheelchair-compatible looms/routes and cancellation fees are unverified. Confirm your requirements when booking.
- The separate jibata session has no take-home piece. Specify coaster weaving when booking if you want a finished object to keep.

Prices & timing
Coaster weaving ¥3,300 including tax, revised 3 September 2026. The separate jibata session is ¥4,400 per hour. Museum admission is charged separately.

Facility weekdays 10:00–16:00, last entry 15:30; weekends/holidays 10:00–17:00, last entry 16:30. Attend the workshop at your reserved time.

All activities require telephone booking on 0296-33-5633, from one month ahead. Enquiries 10:00–16:00 on open days. Session reception is from 10:00 or 13:30; agree the date and participant number when booking.
