Blend Your Own Fragrance at Oita Fragrance Museum
Give a Beppu visit a different sensory memory. After exploring perfume bottles and fragrance history, try blending a scent yourself and discover how small changes alter the result.

What you will do
Choose from 17 scents and mix a 30 ml eau de toilette. Combine the workshop with the perfume collection and fragrance-history galleries on the lower two floors.

Getting there
About 10 minutes on foot from JR Beppu Daigaku Station. From a limited express, change to a local train at Beppu; a taxi from Beppu Station takes about 12 minutes.

Before you choose a date
Closures: Closed on the third Thursday of each month and December 31–January 3. The official FY2026 calendar also marks November 19 and December 17, 2026, and January 21, February 18 and March 18, 2027 closed. No general holiday-substitution rule is stated; follow the calendar.
Language: Exhibit audio accessed by smartphone QR codes is offered in Japanese, English, Korean and Simplified Chinese. Confirm the workshop instruction language when booking.
- Participants from junior-high age may join independently. Younger children need one guardian; a preschooler’s guardian must provide assistance rather than make a separate perfume.
- Spectator-only entry to the workshop is not permitted. Late arrivals may be unable to participate.
- A loan wheelchair is available. Ask in advance about reaching the third-floor workshop, seating arrangements and participation if you are sensitive to fragrance.
- Cancellation charges, including differences between booking channels, are unverified. Check before reserving. Live availability has not been checked.
- The aroma room is suspended. The café has different closing days from the museum.

Prices & timing
Workshop ¥3,000 plus museum admission: adults ¥700, high-school/university students ¥500, elementary/junior-high pupils ¥300. An adult pays ¥3,700 in total.

Museum 10:00–18:00. Workshop starts at 10:30, 13:00, 15:00 and 16:30; individual sessions may be canceled.
