Sabae Megane Museum: make an acetate face keychain
In Japan’s eyewear-making heartland, assemble colorful frame material into a tiny face. This workshop pairs a real spectacle-making technique with a look at the craft’s history.
一般社団法人福井県眼鏡協会・めがねミュージアム / Fukui Optical Association, Megane Museum
What you will do
Choose acetate face and eyewear pieces for the Megane de Collage workshop, then bond them with the solution used for spectacle nose pads. Add a chain after initial drying and take your creation home. The free ground-floor museum shows historic production scenes and changing spectacle shapes from Edo to Showa.
Time: Making takes about 40–60 minutes. After taking it home, leave it largely untouched for about 24 hours to cure fully.
