Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Museum (Nashikko-kan)
Explore a fruit-growing region through the year of work behind each pear. A huge pear-tree display, simulated fruit bagging and varietal tasting connect cultivation, storage and the table. The indoor museum makes a useful winter visit beyond the harvest season.
What to see
- Inspect a Nijisseiki pear tree with branches spanning about 20 metres and its displayed roots, and notice how growers train the branches horizontally.
- Follow soil care through shipping in the cultivation panorama and films, then try simulated fruit bagging on the display tree.
- Compare three varieties in the Kitchen Gallery. Seasonal fruit and controlled low-temperature storage support year-round tasting.
- Upstairs, the Wonder Garden uses interactive features to explore an orchard from a small creature’s perspective.
JR Kurayoshi Station → your visit
- From bus stand 2 at Kurayoshi Station, take a service toward Nishi-Kurayoshi, Ikuta Shako or Hirose. Services via Kurayoshi Park Square take about 12 minutes to that stop.
- For other services, alight at Kurayoshi Park Square Kitaguchi after about 9 minutes and walk about 5 minutes. Driving from the station takes about 10 minutes; Park Square has free parking.
Closures & important conditions
Closed on the first, third and fifth Monday of each month, moving to the next non-holiday if Monday is a public or substitute holiday. The annual New Year closure is December 29–January 3. Under the published normal rule, Monday January 4, 2027 is also closed, extending the continuous closure through January 4. Special 2026–27 openings or changes have not been verified. The last Sunday of each month has free admission, but no pear tasting.
- Free admission on the last Sunday does not include tasting. Choose a normal paid-admission day if tasting is central to your visit.
- Tasting fruit may not be taken away or eaten elsewhere in the building. Varieties can change.
- Winter indoor displays and tasting are not an orchard-harvesting experience; this is not a promise of pear picking.
