Mount Iwate and Lake Nanbu Katafuji

Snow-covered Mount Iwate reflected in Lake Nanbu Katafuji, a winter view in Morioka. On calm days, the lake mirrors the mountain and sky. Photographed in December 2024.

Current visiting conditions

This is a December 2024 winter record. The exact capture day and visit-day snow, water and access conditions are unverified. Check current weather and local guidance.

Shijushida Dam is part of a regeneration plan that includes height-raising. The March 2026 fiscal plan lists studies and design; it does not prove that physical height-raising is complete or that today’s scene matches the photograph.

This guide introduces a lakeside view, not a recommendation to climb Mount Iwate. Follow local access restrictions.
