Make a Paper-and-Bamboo Fan in Marugame

Discover Marugame’s fan-making tradition through the feel of flexible bamboo and paper. Working with a prepared frame keeps the experience manageable on a short visit, while still giving you a fan you finished yourself.

What you will do

Choose a patterned paper and attach it to a prepared bamboo frame. While it dries, explore historic materials, fans from different regions and the demonstration area. This is a paper-pasting workshop, not bamboo-frame construction from scratch.

Time: About 40–50 minutes. Parties of roughly five or more should allow about 90 minutes and discuss arrangements by phone.
