Nagahama Railway Square
Step from an 1882 station into the cabs of steam and electric locomotives. Three compact buildings trace how travel changed in Nagahama, once a link between Lake Biwa’s connecting boats and the railway toward Hokuriku.
What to see
- Explore the Old Nagahama Station, described by its operator as Japan’s oldest surviving station building.
- See railway-connecting-boat material and railway models in the Railway Culture Hall.
- Compare D51 No.793 and ED70 No.1 in the Hokuriku Line Electrification Memorial Hall, and enter the cabs when open.
West exit of JR Nagahama Station → your visit
