Kita no Daichi Aquarium (Yama no Aquarium)
Look up through a plunging waterfall tank, then meet the large itou of Hokkaido’s rivers. This compact Onneyu aquarium brings river currents and seasonal change close to eye level.
What to see
- The waterfall-basin tank and displays of Hokkaido freshwater fish.
- The seasonal river tank and tropical freshwater fish kept using local hot-spring water.
JR Rubeshibe Station → your visit

- Address: 1-4 Matsuyama, Rubeshibe-cho, Kitami. Free parking is available.
Closures & important conditions
The operator lists April 8–14, the second Monday through Friday of December, and December 31–January 1 as regular closures. No holiday-substitution rule is stated. A date-specific December 2026 announcement was not verified; reconfirm your travel date.
- Ice on the seasonal tank depends on weather. This is not a promise of frozen water in November or on a particular day.

Hours & admission arrangements
09:00–17:30; last entry 17:10.
The checked visitor information does not state an advance-reservation requirement for ordinary individuals. Groups should use the operator’s group-visit procedure.
- Admission per person: JPY 830 general admission; JPY 400 for junior-high students; JPY 400 for elementary students. These are the operator’s rates following the October 1, 2025 revision.
- Groups of 20 or more: JPY 630 general admission and JPY 280 schoolchildren. The group rate also applies with an eligible disability certificate.
- Loan wheelchairs/strollers, an accessible toilet and nursing/changing facilities are listed; equipment is limited.
What still needs checking
- Preschool admission, individual-ticket cancellation/refund terms and additional temporary closures were not confirmed.
- The tourism page instead says Monday–Friday of December’s second week. Because this wording differs, do not convert it into specific calendar dates without a dated operator notice.
